Daily Announcements 3/12

Good morning Gig Harbor High School! Today is Wednesday, March 12 and here are your daily announcements:
Today's historically significant woman is Amelia Earhart! Not only did Amelia Earhart attempt to be the first woman to circumnavigate the world but she also designed an athletic clothing brand for women. She was the first female pilot to fly solo non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean and set many other records.
Calling all underclassmen (including Running Start students), you're invited to try out for cheer! Tryouts will be held in the evenings the week before spring break, April 7th-10th. No experience necessary! We offer both year-round and winter-season options, with flexibility for multi-sport athletes. To accommodate various schedules, the cheer interest meeting will be held over Zoom next Wednesday, March 12th at 6:30PM. For more details and links, visit tidescheer.com/ tryouts.
Last night girls lacrosse took on Lincoln High school and came out on top with 19-1 win in their season opener. 10 of our 15 field players scored a goal with Kelsea Gardner and Olivia Van Someran leading the way with three goals each. Lizzy Kolokithas also had a 86% save ratio last night in the net and Nova Middleton, Katie Waida and Greta DeLong each had two goals a piece. Girls lacrosse plays their home opener next week at home vs. Stadium - see you there!
Girls Softball plays Capital today at 4:00 on our softball fields. Boys JV baseball travels to Puyallup Rec Center to play Rogers and Varsity travels to Heritage Park to play Rogers @ 7pm. Good luck to all our athletes.
The University of Idaho will be visiting the Career Center at 8:30 tomorrow! If you are curious about this school, come check them out!
