Kindness may seem simple, but genuine kindness is so much harder than we make it out to be.
Houston Kraft, in his book Deep Kindness, A Revolutionary Guide for the Way We Think, Talk and Act in Kindness, challenges us to think more deeply about what kindness actually requires, especially if we want to repair a world that has grown to be more divisive, lonely, and anxious than ever. With quotes like "Just be kind" or "Throw kindness around like confetti, " we've oversimplified what it takes to actually demonstrate kindness in a world crying out for it.
True kindness requires:
Kindness requires self-sacrifice – True kindness isn't just about easy acts of goodwill; it involves understanding and sometimes making uncomfortable or inconvenient sacrifices for others.
Empathy over assumptions – Instead of assuming what others need, practice empathy to truly understand their emotional state.
The importance of vulnerability – Being kind often involves vulnerability, which can create deeper, more genuine connections.
Address insecurity through kindness – Addressing personal insecurities with kindness helps build confidence and understanding.
Conscious kindness – Kindness should be intentional, not something that’s done out of habit or to feel good.
Shift from transactional to transformational kindness – Move beyond surface-level kindness (like doing good deeds for credit) toward more impactful, genuine connections.
Resilience through kindness – Practicing kindness strengthens emotional resilience, making it easier to handle life's difficulties with grace and compassion.

May we take this challenge and strive each day to create a more kind world for everyone, especially those that we may disagree with or that may challenges us.
This is the work of being kind.
And it starts with us. |

From The Counseling Office:
Registration Wrap Up and SchooLinks Parent/Guardian Access
Registration for the 2025-2026 school year via SchooLinks is OFFICIALLY closed! Counselors worked diligently to review and verify every student's course requests to ensure their registration form and selections on SchooLinks matched.Thank you to students, parents/guardians, and staff for your support, patience, understanding, and effort to make this happen! The next step is to take this information and build our master schedule on PowerSchool for next school year.
One feature of SchooLinks is that students, parents/guardians, and counselors can leave comments on a student's 4 year plan. When we leave a comment, both the student and parent/guardian are notified via email. In order for a parent/guardian to gain access to their child’s SchooLinks account, they can get a unique “claim code” from their student. This link contains a six-digit alphanumeric code at the end (e.g., app.schoolinks.com/onboarding/guardian/######).
Students can find and share their Guardian Claim Code by doing the following:
Logging into their SchooLinks account
Clicking the gear icon in the top right corner
Selecting “Account Settings”
Clicking “Your Guardians” from the left side menu
Clicking the green “View Guardian Instructions and Unique Claim Code” button
The student can then copy and share the claim code or email instructions with their parent/guardian.
Summer School Information Update
We currently have one confirmed summer school opportunity through West Sound Tech (see details below). As we receive more information regarding online and in person summer classes available through the PSD, we will be sure to post information about those opportunities to our various communication platforms (i.e. the Weekly Wrap, Schoology, GHHS website, etc.) as soon as we receive them from the District. Thank you for your patience and ROLL TIDES!
