February is Black History Month, and throughout the month we will be celebrating black voices. Black History Month is a time dedicated to honoring the achievements, struggles and contributions of African Americans throughout history. It serves as a reminder of the resilience and perseverance of Black individuals in the face of adversity, celebrating their cultural heritage and highlighting their pivotal roles in shaping the world we live in today. It's not just about acknowledging the past, it's about recognizing the ongoing fight for equality and justice, inspiring us to confront the systemic injustices and work towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all. For high school students, Black History Month offers an opportunity to learn about often overlooked stories, figures, and events that have played significant roles in shaping our society, empowering them to become informed, empathetic and active citizens. It's a time to amplify Black voices, celebrate diversity and foster understanding and unity among all people. We are excited to learn, grow, and celebrate together!

Senior Library To Do List
Don’t wait until the end of the year. Diplomas will be held until all materials are returned and fines paid. Check your library accounts under “Library Search” on the Portal.
Here is how to check your account:
Select “Library Search” under the “Core Tools” folder on the Portal
Select “Gig Harbor Library” from the list
“Login” top right corner
Click on the blue “Peninsula School District Login”
Select “My Stuff” on the top menu
Look under “Checkouts” and “Fines”
If you have any questions or disputes about what is listed on your account, NOW is the time to talk to Mrs. Marten. It would also be wise to take care of any fines on your account. Don’t wait until the last minute. Thank you!
Senior families, Grad Ads for the Yearbook are due in just a couple short weeks. These are special pages designed especially for your senior that are printed in the book. You can design your own, or you can have one of our talented staff designers create it to your specifications. We have limited space for Grad Ads and it's selling quickly, so getting us your content early will help ensure there's space for yours. Be sure to get it in soon, but no later than February 8th. Get all the info on the Grad Ad section of our yearbook website or upload your content or your finished ad. Contact Heidi Allen with questions.

This Valentine’s Day, why not give a gift that truly saves lives? Join the club, HOSA, for the Blood Donation Bus Drive on February 14th in the school parking lot.
Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, and 1 in 7 hospital patients will need a transfusion. Your donation can help save the lives of up to 3 people right here in our community. All blood goes to local hospitals, including St. Anthony’s, through Blood Works. It’s easy, quick, and incredibly meaningful. Think of it as a Valentine to the community; because there’s no better way to show you care!

Second Semester Schedule Changes
Students will be able to submit schedule correction requests through the online link that is on Schoology in the "Class of 20XX" courses until Tuesday, February 4th at 2:30pm. Students must continue to attend the classes that are on their schedule as it shows on PowerSchool. The counselors as working as quickly as they can to review requests and will contact the student via email of the outcome. Please do not make an appointment to meet with your counselor at this time to discuss possible changes. The online link in Schoology will be the quickest, most equitable, and ONLY way for changes to be considered.
“CLASS OF 20XX” MEETINGS
The GHHS Counselors complete one-on-one meetings with students discussing credits, academic interests, and post-high school plans. We have met with all of our seniors and are working our way through juniors. Sophomores will be next! Please be patient as we are looking to schedule those meetings in February/March. We will have plenty of time to talk about registration and planning for the 2025-2026 school year!
